Gudangan

Gudangan
Gudhangan or sometimes also called by Kluban, is one traditional food of local people of semarang. Gudhangan it's self consist of many different vegetables like spinach, papaya leaf, "cikra-cikri", casava leaf,etc. Like a vegetable salad? If there any people thinking that way, I will answer "absoulutely no!". Gudhangan is too far different with vegetable salad, from my point of view salad use fresh fruits or vegetables and using mayonise as finishing touch. But in gudhangan we will not dare to use fresh casava or papaya leaf for ingredients (I don't think there are any people who want to try it). Before being served vegetables on gudhangan must be cooked by boilling it, after being boiled this vegetables later mixed with a unique sauce that being made from coconut grater and chili.
For finishing touch gudhangan commonly served with another simple dish like: boiled egg, salt fish, tofu or fried chicken. Also don't forget to use cooked-rice while eating it, just like another Indonesian local food.

hey, don't you know that gudhangan n kluban is a very different food? gudhangan have more relationship with "pecel" than with kluban. kluban is kinda like "urap" in east java.
it's like gudhangan n pecel are brother, while kluban n urap is their cousins..

and what is this "cikra-cikri"? i think i've never heard 'bout that before..

(another useless comment of the day..)

=,=a That I know gudhangan is different than pecel Danu! Pecel used peanut (Ground-peas or whatever it's name) as main source of it's sauce, But gudhangan used coconut grater and chili.

P.S. Cikra-cikri, is named of some of plant in my village maybe in different village it's called by another name.
==========================
translated in javanese language :
Pecel nganggo sambel kacang , gudhangan/kluban sambele digawe seko parutan kelopo karo lombok abang.

yes, i know that Pid. For further information, here's more story 'bout the family:
Their father, "Mr. Vegetable" first married with "Ms. Coconut-grate". Then they have a son, the "gudhangan". But a years later, they got divorced. Mr Vegetables than married again with "Ms. Peanout-souce". There they got another son, the "pecel", who is more popular than her step-brother.

The divorced "Ms Coconut-grate", then married again with "Mr. Raw-vegetable", a relative to "Mr. Vegetable". They have two sons, The "Kluban"(now residence in Central and North coast Java), and
"Urap"(live in East and South coast Java)

Well, that is as far as i know. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Note : for a female reader, you may find the previous story is kinda like gender discriminating. But, i don't mean anything tough
