Dual Booting Fedora (Linux) and Windows Opearting System

What is Dual Boot?

Dual boot is like having two different operating system within 1 PC or hard disk. That can be boot separately each time you turning on your computer.

What it's advantage between dual boot and common boot?

Dual boot have many advantage. First, it can be act as back up when your Windows operating system get troubled by virus, corrupted file on system, etc. You can still open your files on the Windows from your Linux. Second, malicious software / virus / trojan become ugly when it's opened on the different based operating system. Easily said you can spot easily those ugly Windows-based viruses / trojan when running Linux operating system and deleted them! Third, you will be looking more cool when you can using both of them :)  (don't mind this one, eh!)

What it's disadvantage?

Required more space on the hard disk, you can sacrifice some of your free hard disk space, deleting some unnecessary files for free space or adding more hard disk (I never try this last one). The outer disadvantage is you need to updating both content on the two different operating system if you want to keep your operating system up to date.

How much space needed for Linux OS ?

Around 15 ~ 30 GB is enough, on my experience dual booting Fedora with Windows I use 20 GB free space to install and adding Fedora. You can use the space on the Windows to save file anyway.

Preparation

First, usually you need reserve 1 partition from your Windows operating system and those making your windows only have C:\ and D:\. For example, you have C:\ , D:\ and E:\ on your Widows hard disk partition, you need to delete the E:\ partition if you want to install dual boot with Linux. You can use any software partition tool if you want, but if I may recommended, try using EasyUS partition, it's free and working well on my case.
Second, Installation disc, Live CD/DVD or Live USB. It's up to you what method you will be used. Installation disc having full package, Live CD/DVD / USB is more like starter pack. Fedora can be downloaded at fedoraproject.org Then burn image into disc, and you've done on the preparation stage (You can read the hardware requirement on the Fedora's site, even it's doesn't really matter on my case, because people knows Windows 7 take more requirement than Linux based operating system).

Installation

Place the Installation DVD or Live CD/DVD/USB on it's place, set the boot into them. If  you don't know how to change the boot media, just press F12 or F7 or whatever it show while your PC booting, change the booting into those installation media (If necessary, don't forget to return your default boot into your hard disk again after finishing installation).

Wait while installation media begin to run, pick an option to install Linux on the free space that will make a new brand of partition without erasing the older one (Windows).

Set the regional setting, don't forget to make user account (I really recommended it) and bla bla bla (you know what to do here)..

Waiting for installation and don't forget to take a pray while installation progress currently on run, especially if you don't have UPS or battery to safe your PC while power outage!

Completed and it's done. Update your newly operating system as necessary.

P.S.
I'm not responsible for any error before and after the installation. It's just a matter of courage to try and take your own risk!
Good Luck.
